I see you as resilient, hardy, and a fighter.

I can help you work on a variety of challenges, including reducing trauma due to death, a relationship betrayal by someone you trusted, or having experienced a horrific event. Sometimes clients do not realize they are experiencing trauma because they only associate trauma with war or extreme violence. However, experiencing a divorce, infidelity, or the loss of someone we love, for example, can be traumatic for many people.

I have worked with individuals who have suffered private trauma (infidelity), to the more public (Las Vegas shooting, San Bernardino Terrorist Attack, and LA active shooter). I practice highly effective, scientifically validated treatments such as EMDR and ACT. These therapy treatments are focused and effective and clients share feeling healthier and happier within 2-8 sessions. Situated in a practice with clinicians I respect creates a seamless transition for clients needing shifts in treatment or specialty focus.

Client Testimonials

EMDR

Dr. Uthoff offers her patients hope and a renewed sense of peace . We are grateful for the gentle and compassionate approach she demonstrated towards our daughter. Through her services of EMDR our daughter gained much needed healing!
— Grateful Parents

In 2009, I was violently attacked by a guard dog and as a result I suffered from PTSD. My symptoms included nightmares, fear of leaving my house, sleeplessness, depression, anger, and anxiety. As a result of the dog bitting my face, all I could see when I looked in the mirror was the scar. I went through a year of counseling, reading suggested books. I was on medication for anxiety and to help me sleep. This seemed to help, but it wasn’t until an EMDR session with Dr. Uthoff that ALL my symptoms from this trauma went away. I highly recommend Dr. Uthoff.
— Healed Patient

Dr. Uthoff was my key to overcoming anxiety. After visiting other psychologists and having minimal result, Dr. Uthoff was able to do what others were not. She is very compassionate, understanding and supportive doctor. She is able to assist you in locating your troubled areas and give you positive and effective influences on how to rectify your areas of challenge. I know every doctor is different but from personal experience I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Gisette Uthoff to anyone who is in need of finding peace within themselves.
— T.S.

I first began my treatment with Dr. Uthoff at one facility, then made the decision to continue therapy at her new location. My experience was so positive with Dr. Gisette Uthoff. I knew I needed to stay with her and begin trauma therapy, to start on my healing process. I have been dealing with my husband’s infidelity. I had been introduced to the EMDR therapy previously, yet, hadn’t had the right professional administer the treatment. I had to give it another try, and believed Dr. Uthoff was the one to help me. After completing EMDR therapy with Dr. Uthoff, I must say, it saved me. I am further along in my healing process then I could have ever imagined. I learned that I can handle my trauma and I have so much self-worth, two things I thought I’d lost. Dr. Uthoff believed in me and helped me rediscover my belief in myself. I am so grateful that she and I crossed paths. I know, for certain, Dr. Uthoff found her true calling in life. Dr. Gisette Uthoff is compassionate, intuitive and a remarkable professional in her field.

Psychotherapy & EMDR

I have been in law enforcement for over 22 years, and like many of you, I have been involved in several critical incidents in my career. One particular incident a few years ago began to affect me in ways that I have never experienced. This critical incident caused me anxiety and hyper-vigilance over a span of time which resulted in an overnight stay in a local hospital. Although, it was determined from this hospital stay that my heart was healthy and my blood pressure was stabilized, my marriage and personal life were not so healthy and alcohol consumption was becoming a nightly occurrence. After that panic attack, I realized that I needed help and a prescribed narcotic by a doctor wasn’t an option for me. Reluctantly, I reached out to The Counseling Team for assistance when I first met Dr. Gisette Uthoff. The first thing that I noted about Dr. G. Uthoff, was the fact that she was very patient, did not pry, and could relate to street cops very well. For the next few weeks, she helped me to understand the accumulative effects of stress caused from critical incidents, and the toll that it takes on cops over the span of a police officer’s career. In essence, what Dr. G. Uthoff helped me to understand is that we must relocate thenegative thoughts “files” of critical incidents to another side of our brain for resilience and sustainability for our emotional well-being. Contrary to my former beliefs, police officers do not become impervious to the emotional affects of critical incidents because we become seasoned “salty” law enforcement veterans, but the opposite is true. Dr. G. Uthoff introduced me to a psychotherapy technique called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) that has been very successful in treating anxiety and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). After two EMDR sessions, I completed my counseling sessions with Dr. G. Uthoff, and from these sessions, I have made significant changes in my personal life and marriage which resulted in the recent promotion to a mid-manager position within my organization. Forever grateful and indebted.

Privately paying for therapy (out-of-pocket) allows you the most confidentiality as compared to going through insurance.  Read our blog post, Private Pay vs. Insurance: How much confidentiality is there really? for more info.
